Darrin Klinger is a partner at SPP and has been with the firm since its founding in 2001. He represents clients before decision makers and opinion leaders in Ohio, D.C., and across the nation.
His priorities for SPP focus on the success of our clients, team members and business development opportunities. With over 20 years of experience in state and national politics, and in the private sector while working for some of Ohio’s and America’s most successful companies, Darrin has created winning strategies on the public affairs, public relations, grassroots, media and government relations fronts.
Through business, politics and sports, Darrin has established key relationships across America and Australia. He is the founder of Australia – USA (AUSA) Connect, a network of thought leaders bridging opportunities through an exchange of ideas between two like-minded cultures. Darrin is a member of the Australia America Association, a U.S. Advisor to Prokick Australia, and he and his son are members of the Geelong Cats Football Club of the Australian Rules Football League.
Beyond SPP, Darrin enjoys coaching his son, is a sports enthusiast, and is a supporter of our armed forces and their families. He is VP of the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial, Advance Guard member for the Wounded Warrior Project and assembled an event with John Rich that raised $50,000 for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. In 2009, Darrin created the Take The Field Tribute video, encouraging Ohio State fans to welcome the Navy football team onto the field at the historic Ohio Stadium. The video quickly went viral and helped Ohio State win an AT&T Sportsmanship Award.
Darrin has also spearheaded the creation of three Ohio historical markers and one in Tennessee. He is a Partner in Hope for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and longtime supporter of the Stefanie Spielman Fund.
Prior to SPP, Darrin worked for a variety of political campaigns, in the Office the Governor of Ohio and as Ohio executive director for President George W. Bush’s successful reelection campaign. Darrin is a graduate of Ohio State University with a B.S. in Secondary Education with an emphasis in history and sociology.
